Every visit to this site, in one place
When you open a job in ServiceM8, Work History adds a panel that gathers every other job scheduled at the same site address — whether it happened last year or is booked for next week. Upcoming visits sit at the top, past visits below, split by today's date, so the timeline reads at a glance.
Each entry shows the visit date, the assigned technician, the job status, the job description, and whether the visit has attachments. It's built for both the office and the field: a technician arriving on site can instantly see what happened on previous visits, and the office can confirm what's already booked before scheduling more work.
What you get
Site-matched visits
Automatically groups jobs by normalised site address, so every visit to a property lines up together.
Past & upcoming split
Upcoming bookings on top, completed visits below — divided by today's date for a clean timeline.
Technician & status
Each row shows who's assigned and the current job status, so you always know the state of play.
Attachment preview
Tap a filename to preview it inline — photos render right in the panel, with open & download links.
Scheduled visits only
Shows real bookings, filtering out clock-in/out time entries so there are no duplicate rows.
Office & field ready
Works inside the job card on both the Online Dashboard and the ServiceM8 mobile app.

Open any job card
The Work History panel appears inside the job card. It loads every other visit that matches the job's site address.
Reading a visit row
Every row in the panel represents one scheduled visit to the site. Here's what each part tells you:
When the visit is scheduled — upcoming visits appear above the divider, past visits below.
The staff member assigned to that visit.
The job's current ServiceM8 status (e.g. Quote, Work Order, Completed).
The job description, so you know what the visit is for at a glance.
An indicator when the visit has files. Tap a filename to expand an inline preview.
Previewing & downloading attachments
Tap a filename to expand a preview inside the panel. Image files render directly; PDFs and other file types show a short note with Open and Download links so you can view the full file.
Desktop tip: ServiceM8's add-on frame restricts opening and downloading files directly on desktop browsers. If a file doesn't open on the first click, right-click the Open link and choose "Open in new tab" (or "Save link as"). On the mobile app, tapping to open and download works normally.
What Work History can access
Work History requests read-only access to the parts of your ServiceM8 account it needs to build the visit timeline. It never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your account.
| Scope | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| read_jobs | To find jobs at the same site address and read their description and status. |
| read_schedule | To read scheduled bookings and sort visits into past and upcoming. |
| read_staff | To show which technician is assigned to each visit. |
| read_attachments | To list and preview files attached to each visit. |
Privacy Policy
Work History is developed by Tech-M8. This policy explains what the add-on accesses and how that information is handled.
What we access
With your authorisation, Work History reads job, schedule, staff, and attachment data from your connected ServiceM8 account through ServiceM8's official API, using the read-only permissions listed under Permissions. This data is used solely to display a site's visit history inside the job card.
How your data is handled
Visit information is retrieved on demand and shown to you in real time within the job card. To let you preview and download attachments securely, file requests are routed through Tech-M8's authenticated proxy service, which passes the file back to your browser. Tech-M8 does not sell your data, and does not share it with third parties except as required to operate the add-on (for example, the ServiceM8 API and the secure attachment proxy).
Your control
You can revoke Work History's access at any time by removing the add-on from your ServiceM8 account, which ends its access to your data. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at support@tech-m8.com.
Review before publishing: this privacy wording is a starting draft based on how the add-on works. Please confirm the data-handling and retention details match your actual backend, and align the language with your other add-ons' policies before it goes live.
